A parallelized genetic algorithm for the calibration of Lowry model

چکیده
This paper presents a parallelized genetic algorithm for the calibration of Lowry model based on a maximum likelihood approach. A case study for the city of Hong Kong was employed for demonstrating the performance of the parallelized genetic algorithm, in terms of two commonly used performance measures: speedup and eciency. The genetic algorithm is particularly suitable for implementation under a parallel computing environment. The par-allelized version of the genetic algorithm is ecient and can be used to substantially reduce the computing time requirement for the calibration procedure. Therefore, it greatly enhances the potential applicability for large scale problems. An empirical study on the performance of the algorithm was conducted, from which an empirical formulae was developed to indicate the likely computing time in relation to the number of processors used for parallel computation. A Method for Pre-Calibration of DI Diesel Engine Emissions and Performance Using Neural Network and Multi-Objective Genetic Algorithm
Diesel engine emission standards are being more stringent as it gains more publicity in industry and transportation. Hence, designers have to suggest new controlling strategies which result in small amounts of emissions and a reasonable fuel economy. To achieve such a target, multi-objective optimization methodology is a good approach inasmuch as several types of ...

The mathematical model of Area-Reduction empirical method is written through MATLAB software. Three periods of the hydrologic survey are required to run, calibrate and validatethe model. The Dez Dam, which is one of the most significant dams of the Middle East with three periods of hydrographic surveys in 1972, 2002 and 2011, has been chosen for the investigation. The annual average of the inpu...
متن کاملEstimation and Calibration of Robot Link Parameters with Intelligent Techniques
Abstract: Using robot manipulators for high accuracy applications require precise value of the kinematics parameters. Since measurement of kinematics parameters are usually associated with errors and accurate measurement of them is an expensive task, automatic calibration of robot link parameters makes the task of kinematics parameters determination much easier. In this paper a simple and easy ...
متن کاملA comparison of different network based modeling methods for prediction of the torque of a SI engine equipped with variable valve timing
Nowadays, due to increasing the complexity of IC engines, calibration task becomes more severe and the need to use surrogate models for investigating of the engine behavior arises. Accordingly, many black box modeling approaches have been used in this context among which network based models are of the most powerful approaches thanks to their flexible structures. In this paper four network base...
متن کاملOptimal Reconfiguration of Solar Photovoltaic Arrays Using a Fast Parallelized Particle Swarm Optimization in Confront of Partial Shading
Partial shading reduces the power output of solar modules, generates several peak points in P-V and I-V curves and shortens the expected life cycle of inverters and solar panels. Electrical array reconfiguration of PV arrays that is based on changing the electrical connections with switching devices, can be used as a practical solution to prevent such problems. Valuable studies have been perfor...
